The 2024 World Virtual Reality Innovation Conference was held in Qingdao, Shandong province, from Nov 12 to 13.

Shandong has identified virtual reality as one of its seven future industries and has successfully cultivated a group of leading enterprises in areas such as smart hardware, content creation, and application scenarios. A new mode of coordinated development of technology, products, services, and applications is accelerating the growth of the VR industry.

In recent years, Shandong has doubled down on improving its VR industry, comprehensively coordinating efforts in innovation-driven development, strengthening supply chains, application demonstration, and ecological improvements. As a result, the number of VR-related enterprises in the province has reached over 260.

As a major industrial province, Shandong has numerous scenarios in industrial design, manufacturing assembly, and operation and maintenance where VR solutions can optimize production management decisions.

Shandong has accumulated 58 virtual reality scenarios and solutions integrated with industry applications, 70 provincial-level pioneering application cases in the virtual reality field, and four national-level cases.

In the first three quarters of this year, the output of intelligent products such as virtual reality equipment and servers in Shandong increased by more than 20 percent.

Shandong is continuously improving its policies and measures in the field of virtual reality. By introducing incentives for building virtual reality experience centers in the province and providing special support to metaverse enterprises, the province is bolstering the development of this emerging field.
