The 2024 Roundtable of Wetland City Mayors is being held in Dongying, East China's Shandong province, from Oct 14 to 17, featuring the theme "Wetlands Nourish the City & Creating a Better Future Together".

This event welcomed approximately 220 leaders, experts, and representatives from institutions across 31 cities in seven countries.

Focusing on the concept of wetland cities, the conference has planned a range of engaging activities designed to foster in-depth communication and interaction between domestic and international wetland cities. Key features include keynote speeches, parallel sessions, thematic presentations, and networking meetings.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to visit significant sites such as the Yellow River Delta, urban wetland parks, and the Yellow River Cultural Museum, where they will be able to experience the region's natural beauty and learn about Dongying's innovative practices in wetland protection and biodiversity conservation.

The conference will also showcase an exhibition of international wetland cities, highlighting unique resources and ecological governance experiences. A collection of case studies highlighting Dongying's efforts to become a wetland city will be released. This collection summarizes the city's approach to integrating wetland protection with urban development, aiming to provide replicable pathways for green development.

Dongying will utilize this conference to assemble a diverse array of resources and perspectives, thereby enhancing the ecological network of international wetland cities. By drawing upon successful case studies and exemplary practices in wetland protection, restoration, management, and sustainable development, it aims to fortify the framework for global wetland conservation and advance international ecological cooperation.
