The Commemoration of the International Day of Peace 2024 was held in Jinan, Shandong province on Sept 19. Approximately 180 representatives from foreign political parties, peace organizations, security think tanks, and relevant domestic departments attended the event.

Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism organized eight intangible cultural heritage projects and their inheritors to participate, including Lu embroidery, willow weaving products, wooden spinning toy, Niejiazhuang clay figurines, and pankou (traditional Chinese knot buttons).

Lu embroidery, originating from Shandong province, was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage item in 2021. It is one of eight famous types of embroidery in China and the earliest embroidery recorded in historical documents, with a history of more than 2,000 years.

Niejiazhuang clay sculptures are produced mainly in Niejiazhuang village, Gaomi county, Shandong province. The sculptures have a long history, dating back more than 400 years. The figurines are often animals like tigers, lions, monkeys, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks.

The wooden spinning toy from Tancheng county, Linyi city, Shandong province, is an ancient traditional handicraft with a history of more than 500 years and was included in the fourth batch of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2014.
