Travel in, out of Shandong surges

Shandong province has seen a remarkable surge in cross-border travelers this year. As of Aug 29, the province's ports have facilitated over 3 million passenger trips, representing a 190 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Among these, 1.14 million Chinese residents traveled outbound and 338,000 foreign visitors entered the province, marking a 193.5 percent and 178.8 percent increase respectively.

To accommodate the growing number of travelers, Shandong has expanded its international passenger routes. Currently, there are 39 international passenger routes connecting Shandong with 22 cities in 14 countries and regions, including the UK, Australia, and Japan. The province operates over 660 passenger flights per week.

Tourism has also seen a significant boost. To date, over 181,000 foreign visitors have come to Shandong for sightseeing.
