Ten students from Weihai, East China's Shandong province, participated in the 2024 Bucheon International Youth Friendship Go Competition held in Bucheon, South Korea, from Aug 8 to 11. The competition saw participation from teams representing Weihai and Harbin in China, Bucheon in South Korea, and Okayama in Japan.
Li Yuansheng from Weihai emerged as the individual champion, showcasing the exceptional talent of Weihai's young Go players on the international stage.
Bucheon, known for its thriving cultural industries, has been a key partner city for Weihai since the two cities established friendly relations in 2008. The cities have since fostered extensive cooperation in areas such as trade, cultural industries, education, and youth exchanges.
Moving forward, Weihai plans to further facilitate exchanges and mutual learning among youth from China, Japan, and South Korea by organizing a variety of cultural visits, sporting events, and study tours.
