Shandong province sweeps Paris Olympics with 15 medals

Some 45 athletes from East China's Shandong province competed at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, bringing home a fantastic haul of five gold, four silver and six bronze medals.

Their performance is widely seen as having consolidated Shandong's position as a leading sports province in the nation.

Throughout the 17-day competition, Shandong's athletes demonstrated their skill and tenacity, showcasing the province's deep resources of sporting talent.

Veteran shooter Li Yuehong won his maiden gold at his third Olympics after victory in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event.

Then, Shandong's Chen Meng, along with teammates Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu, retained the women's table tennis team title on Aug 10, bringing Shandong's gold medal tally to five.

The Seine River witnessed the unwavering determination of Shandong's athletes as they strived for excellence. In all, the 15 medals won are regarded as being a testament to their hard work and dedication.

On their return home, the athletes were celebrated for their contributions to China's overall Olympic success.
