Weifang in East China's Shandong province launched a new program called AI Broadcast: Weifang Weekly Insights at the inauguration ceremony of Weifang Bohai International Communication Center on June 26.

It is the result of a collaboration between China Daily and Weifang, a city with a population of about 9.4 million, and utilizes the actual likeness of Douglas Dueno, a US expert at China Daily Website, integrating cutting-edge AI virtual human video generation technologies.

The virtual anchor can report news and introduce Weifang's culture in languages including English, French, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Italian.
