Weifang marks third anniversary as International City of Peace

Feb 3 marked the third anniversary of Weifang's recognition as an International City of Peace.

Weifang is home to the site of Weihsien Internment Camp, a Japanese-run internment camp during World War II. 

The anniversary featured speeches by provincial officials, liaison officers, researchers and representatives from relative international organizations.

Weifang's commitment to peace was reaffirmed during the officials' speeches, highlighting Weifang's role in contributing to global peace initiatives.

The commemorative activities featured performances of songs like You Are My Sunshine and the release of peace doves. Representatives of foreign expatriates sent messages of recognition, recognizing Weifang's efforts in promoting peace.

As a city with a rich history of resilience and compassion, Weifang's journey to becoming an International City of Peace reflects its enduring commitment to peacebuilding.
