Shandong Provincial People's Congress assembled on Jan 22 to attend the read of the report on the work of Shandong Provincial People's Government, a part of the annual two sessions of the province.

Shandong, a pivotal region in Northeast Asia's economic cooperation, plans to actively integrate into regional cooperation initiatives. The province will implement projects and expand routes for the China-Europe Express freight train service.

In 2023, the China-Europe Express in Shandong operated 2,566 trains, with a significant 24.7 percent year-on-year growth. Notably, exports of cutting-edge products like electric vehicles and solar cells surged by an impressive 47.3 percent.

The report emphasized Shandong's commitment to green, low-carbon, and high-quality development. The province aims to enhance its export capabilities, particularly in green and low-carbon items, and used cars. The focus extends to upgrading processing trade, advancing service trade, and promoting digital trade.

To strengthen international ties, Shandong plans to organize around 260 overseas exhibitions in 2024. The province is keen on deepening engagement with developed markets in Europe, America, Japan, Korea, as well as emerging markets in ASEAN, Central Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa.

The importance of attracting foreign investment was highlighted, showcasing a strategic approach to connecting with Fortune 500 companies, fostering innovative business models, and promoting comprehensive development in talent, teams, projects, and funds.

Shandong's 2024 vision aims to establish the province as a new open economic soil. With policies facilitating foreign engagement and a focus on international cultural exchanges, Shandong looks set to carve out a dynamic path for its future growth.
