Annual New Year shopping festival for time-honored brands wraps up with success

The 2023 Time-honored Brands New Year Shopping Festival, themed trendy products by traditional Chinese brands, concluded triumphantly on Jan 1, in Jinan, the capital of Shandong province.

The festival, as a part of the shopping season promoted by the provincial government,  became a nexus for traditional brands and trendy products. It also served as a response to calls for cultivating new consumption growth points nationwide.

Over five days, nearly 200 traditional Chinese brands from 10 provinces showcased their offerings, attracting a spirited crowd of over 60,000 attendees. On-site transactions amounted to 11.27 million yuan ($1.59 million).

Brands participating in the festival, offering discounts starting at 50 percent, witnessed fervent sales, with products like Jiwenzhai's silver-based cups achieving on-site sales of 216,000 yuan. The festival extended its influence online with livestreaming on site, accumulating a substantial 8.67-million-yuan in transactions.

The event not only fostered a vibrant shopping atmosphere but also embraced social responsibility. The association of time-honored brands in Shandong province donated 100,000 yuan worth of celebrative gifts to the provincial Red Cross, aiming to bring joy to elderly individuals during the festive season.

Looking ahead, the success of the annual festival sets the stage for a lasting tradition, in synergy with other expositions in Shandong. Together, these events aim to construct a robust mechanism, promoting the high-quality development of traditional Chinese brands, cultivating trendy Chinese-made products, and driving consumption while boosting domestic demand.
