At a rose growing base in Zhaoxian town in Juxian county of Rizhao, Shandong province, farmers are busy sorting and packaging freshly cut roses that will be delivered to big cities including Beijing and Shanghai.

The town has more than 400 hectares of land growing more than 30 varieties of roses and producing 62 million fresh flowers annually. The rose-growing sector has increased local incomes and promotes rural revitalization.

Because the current supply cannot meet the demand for roses, the operator of the base is building two new bases to increase production, said Zhao Shanxing, the chief engineer.
