Daisaku Ikeda is a prominent Japanese Buddhist philosopher, educator, and peace advocate. He has dedicated his life to promoting peace, culture, and education around the world through his leadership of the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) organization. Ikeda is recognized for his extensive writings on subjects such as philosophy, dialogue, and the importance of fostering global citizenship.

In the book New Horizons in Eastern Humanism: Buddhism, Confucianism and the Quest for Global Peace, which Ikeda wrote with Tu Weiming, a professor of Chinese history and philosophy and of Confucius studies at Harvard University, the Japanese wrote, "Confucius can truly be called one of humanity's great teachers."
