The 2023 Green, Low-carbon, and High-quality Development Conference was held in the coastal city of Yantai, Shandong province from Aug 28 to 30, with nearly 300 officials, experts, representatives of multinational companies from home and abroad sharing their views on how to drive green, low-carbon, high-quality development and contribute to China's "dual carbon" goals.

Yantai, designated as the permanent venue for the event, promoted its three major focuses at the high-level event: energy, industry, and city development. A total of 200 projects with a combined investment of 624.8 billion yuan ($85.74 billion) were promoted at the event, all of which were expected to accelerate the conversion of new and old kinetic energy in Yantai. These projects are expected to boost Yantai's green, low-carbon and high-quality development.

Zhang Dawei, vice-president of Steinbeis China, said that Yantai has a solid industrial foundation, and both the maturity of its industries and the future development plans are highly science-based. "We are very optimistic about the development prospects of the chemical industry in Yantai," said Zhang.

He added that Shandong has strong prospects for future development, as China entrusted the province with the mission of building a pilot zone for green, low-carbon and high-quality development last year. He expressed his hope to deepen cooperation with Shandong to promote the integration and industrial upgrading of green and low-carbon industries in China and Germany.

The conference was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China Association for Science and Technology, and the Shandong Provincial Government. The conference provided an authoritative platform for releasing technical standards for green, low-carbon, and high-quality development, and expanded exchange and cooperation in green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.
