Several groups of primary school pupils visited the Cuibali village museum that opened to the public earlier this year. Old photos and items that tell the history of the village in Guanxian county, Shandong province, were on display allowing the pupils to get a deeper understanding of the folk customs and changes in the process of rural vitalization.

Zhang Baohua, secretary of the village Party branch, took on the role of volunteer guide. "The previous generation endured hardships for the sake of future generations, and it is because of their sacrifices that we have a better life today," Zhang says.

"The construction of this village history museum is aimed at ensuring everyone remembers the contributions of our elders."

Construction of the museum is part of local authorities' efforts to revitalize culture and history. It strives to open a window for villagers to understand their village history.
