A cultural tourism promotion event titled "Hometown of Confucius, Hospitable Shandong" was held in Tokyo, Japan, on May 25.

The event, organized by the Shandong Provincial Department of Cultural and Tourism, brought together a diverse range of over 140 guests, comprising esteemed government officials from Shandong and Japan, prominent media outlets, key representatives from local travel agencies, airlines, hotels, overseas Chinese communities, and various culture and art circles.

Shandong, a populous province along China's east coast, is a dynamic region known for its strong economy, rich culture, and vibrant tourism industry. With a population of more than 100 million, it ranks as the country's third-largest economy.

Shandong's natural beauty is exemplified by Mount Tai and the majestic Yellow River, while its historical significance lies in being the birthplace of Confucius. Under the tourism brand "Friendly Shandong," the province has become a sought-after destination, captivating visitors with its diverse attractions and warm hospitality.

In recent years, Shandong has intensified the development of high-quality cultural tourism products and launched a series of themed tour routes such as study tours, coastal sightseeing, cultural experiencing, and gourmet food exploring.

Shandong welcomes more Japanese to explore the unique charm of the magic land, said a senior official from the Shandong Provincial Department of Cultural and Tourism.

The awarding ceremony of "Hospitable Shandong" tourism ambassadors was also held during the event. The Qingdao Tourism Group signed a cooperation agreement with Japan Travel Company, and the Shandong Overseas Tourism Company signed a cooperation agreement with MS Travel Co.

According to the Shandong Provincial Department of Cultural and Tourism, Shandong will also launch entry incentive policies such as charter and cruise awards to provide more benefits for Japanese travelers visiting Shandong.
