Wang Liling had a busy May Day holiday as she was promoting her hometown farm specialties to customers online.

The woman from Cuibali village, Chongwen street, Guanxian county of Shandong province was enthusiastically interacting with her customers online, introducing in detail a local new variety of sweet potato during the holiday.

Villagers at her e-commerce facility were quickly sorting and packaging, preparing to ship to various parts of the country.

Local farm produces have enjoyed sharp rises in sales since local authorities explored an e-commerce mode that integrates farmland production and farmers.

A leadership group for rural e-commerce work at the street and village levels has been founded. Efforts have been made to actively cultivate rural e-commerce talent, and moved various distinctive local agricultural products to online platforms.

To date, more than 2,000 villagers have engaged in rural e-commerce. In the first quarter, the online retail sales exceeded 115 million yuan ($16.7 million).
