In the Shandong Yellow River Administration Bureau in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, lies an exhibition hall showcasing the province's arduous efforts in managing the Yellow River to turn it into a peaceful river that benefits local residents, local media reported.

Harnessing the river is undoubtedly one of the most important parts of Yellow River culture, as it concerns every city, town, village, and person living along the river. It is fundamental to ensuring the tranquility of the river.

The construction of the exhibition hall began in 2020, and it was completed and opened to the public in the second half of 2021.

The exhibition hall presents the material, cultural, and intellectual wealth created by the people living along the Yellow River basin during the process of building water conservancy projects, preventing and controlling floods, and harnessing the Yellow River for public benefit.

It shows the arduous efforts of the people in Shandong led by the Communist Party of China since 1946 to harness the river that used to cause flooding in the Yellow River basin.

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Shandong Yellow River Administration Bureau, under the unified leadership of the central authorities and flood-control headquarters at all levels, has meticulously drawn up flood control plans in managing the river.

Relying on the downstream flood control engineering system and other measures, Shandong people have been united and fought tenaciously against flooding, completely reversing the dangerous development of frequent rerouting of the Yellow River for thousands of years, which has effectively guaranteed the safety of people's lives and property, as well as boosted the country's economic and social development.

The exhibition hall is hailed as an important platform for Shandong to protect, inherit, and promote Yellow River culture, while also serving as a window for visitors to understand Yellow River culture.
