The 11th edition of the National Acrobatics Show kicked off on March 16 in Jinan, capital of Shandong province.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Shandong Provincial People's Government, the event will last until March 29, with a total of 50 acrobatic performances, magic shows, as well as eight acrobatic operas from all over the country to be staged in the cities of Jinan, Jining, and Dezhou.

As a State-level acrobatics event, the National Acrobatics Show has produced a large number of outstanding acrobatic works and talents, playing an important role in promoting the prosperity and development of acrobatic art and enhancing the spiritual strength of the public, said Ming Wenjun, an official from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in his speech at the opening ceremony.

In recent years, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has implemented such projects as the "China Acrobatic Art Innovation Project" and the "National Magic Talent Training Program" to improve acrobatic creation and performance, as well as to promote the innovative development of acrobatic art.

"Shandong acrobatics has a long history and profound impacts. After thousands of years of inheritance and development, it has now become an important force in the province's literary and artistic stage," said Deng Yunfeng, vice-governor of Shandong, adding that in recent years, Shandong has launched a large number of excellent works at home and abroad.
