Cities nationwide are bracing for peaks of COVID-19 infections, and pharmaceutical companies in Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, are working at full capacity to meet surging anti-fever drug orders.

Production lines at Yantai Luyin Pharmaceutical Company in the city's Zhifu district are running at full capacity, which is increasing the market supply of medicine for COVID-19 symptoms. Earlier this month, the local government has released measures to help the company solve problems related to logistics, water and electricity use and raw material procurement, encouraging it to race against the clock to produce medicines.

Currently, the company has produced more than 900,000 tablets of anti-fever drugs, and sent them to the city's chain pharmacies. They were required not to raise prices to ensure that people can buy drugs at the most favorable prices.

Wang Jun, president of Yantai Luyin Pharmaceutical Company, said that the company has beefed up efforts to increase the production and supplies of anti-fever and anti-inflammatory medicines to meet the surging demands. They have adjusted the production plan and rearranged the production line, and increased the production capacity of cold and anti-fever drugs. It is expected that about 40 million acetaminophen tablets will hit the market before the Spring Festival.

Yantai Luyin Pharmaceutical Company, founded in 1968, was the first pharmaceutical enterprise in Yantai, and it has shouldered its social responsibilities since the COVID-19 pandemic started to spread in late 2019.
