Construction of the second phase of the Qingdao Optoelectronic Industrial Park officially started in the Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) on Nov 21.

On the same day, Qingdao Ronghe Optoelectronic Technology Co Ltd officially went into operation, becoming the first project to open in the first phase of the park.

The projects are expected to give a boost to the development of the chip and display industry in Qingdao WCNA, fill a gap in the field of photoelectric display upstream materials in Qingdao, and further improve Qingdao's research, development and production capacity and international competitiveness in the field of high-end photoelectric displays.

Qingdao Ronghe Optoelectronic Technology Co Ltd is jointly invested by Tunghsu Group and Qingdao WCNA-based Ronghe Holding. The company produces key materials in the upstream of the new display industry. The project started construction on Nov 15 last year.

Qingdao Optoelectronic Industrial Park is a major optoelectronic display industry project jointly built by Qingdao WCNA and Tunghsu Group, with a total investment of 47.5 billion yuan ($6.65 billion).

The first phase of park has a total of four projects, with a total investment of 16 billion yuan. The second phase of the park is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2023 and will reach full production capacity by the end of 2024.
