The Yellow River enters Heze city, Shandong province from Henan province and flows 628 kilometers across Shandong before it empties into the Bohai Sea in Dongying city.

To put it simply, Shandong shoulders the mission and responsibility to ensure the safety and peace of the Yellow River, regulate the river's water levels and quality, guarantee the livelihood and development of people living along the river basin, and inherit and promote the Yellow River culture, said Bai Yugang, head of the Publicity Department of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, during a news conference in Beijing on Oct 19.
