In 2019, the Yantai municipal government launched a project to build 100 deep-sea cages in the sea near Changdao Island and create the largest fishery breeding base in Asia. The "Jinghai No 001" is the first self-developed and largest deep-sea smart fishing cage in Asia in terms of production.

The smart cage has a length and width of 68 meters, and measures 70,000 cubic meters. It serves as a smart platform for breeding deep-sea aquatic animals and can hold a total of 1,000 metric tons of fish at a time, with an annual output of 600 to 800 tons.

The smart cage was developed by Yantai Jinghai Marine Fishing Company, which provides an intelligent platform for breeding deep-sea aquatic animals. The platform is powered by wind energy, and can perform automatic breeding, underwater monitoring, and underwater net washing, which is of great importance to marine protection and maintaining a healthy marine ecosystem.

The intelligent platform integrates related resources to promote mass production and drive the development of the marine fishery industry chain, including engineering technology, biotechnology, aquaculture, processing, and cold chain transportation.
