The city has placed a high value on adopting cutting-edge technologies in industries like aerospace, semi-submersible oil storage platforms, oil production equipment, vehicle manufacturing, innovative drugs, and new materials. These industries all serve as examples of how Yantai has prioritized innovation in its high-quality development.
Haiyang, a county-level city in Yantai, is where the Haiyang Oriental Aerospace Port is located. Over years of development, the city now acts as a service port for rocket launches and serves as a platform to demonstrate the strength of the aerospace industry.
According to a statement made by a Yantai official this month, "the Haiyang Oriental Aerospace Port is expected to create a complete aerospace industrial chain integrating major supporting facilities, satellite and rocket manufacturing, sea-based launches, and spatial information services."
Yantai has created a blueprint to build an intelligent equipment and manufacturing park in the city's Huang-Bohai New Area. The park will focus on cultivating projects related to aerospace, aviation, and marine industries, in a bid to build the area into a highland for intelligent manufacturing.
Yantai is a significant industrial hub. The city is currently stepping up efforts to grow and extend new industrial development drivers as well as cultivate new advantages in the manufacturing sector.
At the national level, there are two industrial clusters - biomedical and advanced structural materials - while at the provincial level, there are three - marine engineering equipment, nuclear power equipment, and Haiyang's aerospace industry cluster.
The city is currently speeding up the development of 10 competitive industries with the goal of enhancing industry competitiveness and encouraging synergy for coordinated development of its industry, supply, and value chains.
According to its development goal, the city will cultivate two industrial clusters with an investment of 200 billion yuan ($29.64 billion), four at 100 billion yuan, and three at 10 billion yuan, and set up a modern industrial chain featuring advanced manufacturing, modern services, and the marine industry.
