Jinan sees robust development in computing power

Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, has seen notable development in its computing power, local media reported.

Jinan has strong resources in developing computing power. The city's server production and sales ranked first in China and second in the world, and the city's sales and production of artificial intelligence servers ranked first globally.

The first China Computational Power Conference will be held in Jinan from July 29 to 31, and is expected to provide a platform for governments, companies, universities and research institutes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation related to computingtechnology.

In recent years, Jinan has been focusing on the innovation of computing power, algorithms and arithmetic, which has greatly boosted the computing power industry.

Jinan has a total of 11 large-scale internet data centers and 20,329 servers, and the storage resources of data centers rank first in the province. It is home to the National Supercomputing Center and has a new-generation supercomputer with a processing capacity of 60 petaflops (PFlops) per second. The total scale of the software and information technology service industry in Jinan accounts for half of the whole province.

The robust computingpower industry in Jinan has become a driving force in promoting its digital economy. By the end of 2021, the scale of core industries in the digital economy reached 500 billion yuan ($74.05 billion), ranking first in Shandong.

The integration of the digital economy and real economy helps promote Jinan's high-quality development. In 2021, the city's industrial economy recorded steady improvement, and the operating revenue of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 833.6 billion yuan, up 10 percent year-on-year.

According to the city's development plan, Jinan will strive to develop into a city with a strong and smart digital economy. By 2025, the city plans to build a highland consisting of two trillion-yuan advanced manufacturing and digital economy industries. By 2026, the added value of industries in the city is expected to account for 30 percent of the city's GDP.
