The coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province will promote the high-quality development of the culture and tourism industry in Muping, a district in Yantai, aiming to promote the recovery of the culture and tourism sector following the impact of the latest outbreak of COVID-19.

Muping, with the Yellow Sea to the north and Xianshan Mountain to the south, has a long history and profound literary charm. It is the birthplace of Quanzhen, a major branch of Taoism, and its ample natural resources and the profound culture of the thousand-year-old district have laid a good foundation for the development of Muping's culture and tourism industry.

Among the scenic areas in Muping, Yangma Island Tourism Resort is the most famous, and is situated at the intersection of Dalian, Qingdao, Yantai, and Weihai. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, with the highest level in China being 5A. The island boasts picturesque views, charming scenery and crystal clear sea water, which is why it is dubbed the "Oriental Maldives".

The Yantai-Weihai Tourism Distribution Center, with a combined investment of about 120 million yuan ($17.9 million), is another major culture and tourism project in Muping, and will be open to the public in August. Currently, there are a total of 12 travel agencies that have settled in the center, which is expected to speed up the deep integration of the district's culture and tourism sector.
