Cooperation center for China-Pacific island countries climate change unveiled in Shandong

The center, located in Shandong's Liaocheng city, is jointly built by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and Shandong province.
China announced it would establish a cooperation center for China and Pacific island countries to focus on climate change at the first China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting, which was held in October 2021.
Shandong will use the center as a carrier to coordinate and mobilize domestic and provincial resources, give full play to its advantages, and encourage exchanges with Pacific island countries in all fields and at all levels.

Shandong will promote mutually beneficial cooperation with Pacific island countries in the field of climate change and promote exchanges in agriculture, fisheries, health, education and infrastructure construction by means of platform building, training exchanges, education and scholarships, and foreign aid.
The unveiling ceremony of the center, as well as the opening ceremony of the China-Pacific island countries' high-level dialogue on climate change were held via online channels, with government officials, diplomatic envoys, experts and scholars from home and abroad in attendance.
A batch of cooperative projects on climate change were also signed during the event.
