Shandong promotes green and low-carbon development

Print PrintAccording to local officials at a recent news conference, Shandong province will continue to improve the environment and promote green and low-carbon development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

It will help build low-carbon cities in Jinan, Qingdao, Yantai, and Weifang, as well as devise policies to support green and low-carbon development and speed up the building of a green, low-carbon, and circular economic system.
To explore low-carbon development models suitable for Shandong, a number of pilot low-carbon communities and low-carbon industrial parks with typical demonstration roles will be developed.
It will actively promote and pilot low-carbon technologies such as hydrogen energy production and widespread application, smart grid technology, and clean and efficient fossil energy usage.

Shandong will promote green and low-carbon development and technological innovation, and promote the integrated application of carbon-neutral technology products in transportation, construction, consumption and other sectors.
It will focus on developing new technologies to render a more efficient, cost-effective and reliable supply of renewables such as wind, solar, biomass and geothermal energies.
The province will increase public awareness of climate change and provide timely policy guidance. It will expand climate change education and encourage the spread of low-carbon ideas. It will also encourage the rapid growth of green and low-carbon working and living practices.
