Shandong has launched nine measures to encourage export-oriented industries and enterprises in the province to better seize opportunities arising from the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement.

The move is designed to make good use of the rules and facilitation measures in the agreement, which is the world's largest trade agreement, and to promote high-level opening-up of Shandong, local customs authorities said.

To enhance the overall effectiveness of implementing RCEP, Shandong will rely on the provincial-level origin visa technology alliance to establish a cross-departmental collaborative promotion mechanism.

It will carry out RCEP policy advocacy activities on-site at company locations in the province and guide enterprises to choose a negotiated tax rate based on the lowest and the best solution.

It will support the RCEP Shandong Enterprise Service Center in building a public service platform for the implementation of free trade agreements that combines both online and offline functions.

In the first two months of this year, customs departments in Shandong issued RCEP certificates of origin for 13,000 batches of exported goods, bringing tariff reductions to enterprises and benefiting consumers.
