Stricter control and prevention measures have been introduced to fight COVID-19 in Shandong as several areas in the province remain at a high risk of community transmission.

Shandong has implemented the policy of ensuring that all those in need are tested, isolated, hospitalized or treated. It has taken actions to conduct mass screenings to identify people with infections, hospitalize them, and collect accurate data on case numbers.

The province has taken measures to guarantee services for individuals in quarantine and strengthen care for the elderly, children, pregnant women and patients with serious diseases. Contingency plans have been made to ensure the smooth supply of daily necessities in medium- and high-risk COVID-19 areas.

Tightened prevention measures have been carried out in cities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, covering entry and exit requirements and testing of individuals from medium- and high-risk areas.

Closed-loop management has been imposed on staff members in key areas such as airports and ports. The operations of offline after-school training institutions have been suspended, along with karaoke lounges, cinemas, nightclubs and gymnasiums, local officials said.

All drugstores in the province have suspended the sale of antibiotics and drugs for coughs, fevers and fighting viruses, both online and offline.

Local residents are asked to carefully handle mail and packages, and they should wear a mask and disposable gloves when receiving packages, and open all packages outside and dispose of the boxes immediately. If necessary, residents shall disinfect the inner and outer packaging with chlorine-containing disinfectants or 75 percent alcohol, and be sure to wash their hands after handling packages.
