Chinese rose industry soars in Laizhou

Known as the "Chinese rose capital", Laizhou, a county-level city in Yantai, Shandong province has a Chinese rose planting history of more than 1,000 years.

Laizhou, having a moderate climate and fertile soil, is an ideal place to grow Chinese roses. There are more than 360 varieties of Chinese roses planted in Laizhou in a planting area of 100 hectares. Laizhou is the largest Chinese rose production base in North China.

The city has an annual production of more than 6 million rose plants, which are sold in 29 provinces, cities, autonomous regions, and are exported to Europe, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and other countries and regions.

According to local officials, the city has formulated a five-year development plan for the Chinese rose industry to guide relevant planting enterprises and farmers to increase innovation in Chinese rose planting technology, sales models and application scenarios according to market demand.

The city is also promoting the integrated development of its tourism sector and Chinese rose industry. By hosting a Chinese rose festival, building sightseeing parks, commercial blocks and improving tourism infrastructures, the city is attracting more and more tourists and investors.
