Two Yantai firms won national honors as national green manufacturing units, according to a recent press release by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

China's is pushing forward efforts of developing green manufacturing to meet its goal of peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. There are strict standards and evaluation index system that has been implemented for the declaration and identification of national green manufacturing demonstration units.

The two newly-listed national green manufacturing units are Yantai New Era Health Industry Co Ltd and SAIC-GM Dongyue Motor Company. Currently, the Yantai economic and technological development zone is home to six national green manufacturing demonstration units. All the listed companies will receive the corresponding policy support and boost the sustainable development of the green economy in Yantai.

Part of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) is to promote green, intelligent and high-end manufacturing. In recent years, the Yantai zone has increased investment in technological innovation and green transformation of the manufacturing industry. Efforts have been made to speed up the restructuring of industrial chains and establish a green manufacturing system.

The zone is making great efforts to promote innovation in terms of technologies and relevant institutions to achieve carbon peaking and neutrality goals. Green factories, industrial parks, and industrial chains will be developed in an effort to empower the city's high-quality development.
