Shandong electronic information manufacturing industry on the rise

Driven by a large number of new applications, including the internet of things, artificial intelligence and intelligent connected vehicles, market demand for Shandong's electronic information industry is continuing to grow and industrial development is seeing positive trends, local media reported.

In the first 10 months of this year, Shandong's electronic information manufacturing industry achieved operating revenue of 362.09 billion yuan ($56.85 billion), up 28.2 percent year-on-year, 9.3 percentage points higher than the national average, and ahead of both Guangdong and Jiangsu.

In recent years, the scale of Shandong's electronic information industry has continued to expand, especially in 2020.

Last year, the annual revenue of the province's electronic information industry reached 367.63 billion yuan, up 14.1 percent year-on-year. Its profits reached 16.81 billion yuan, up 47.7 percent year-on-year.

There are currently more than 900 enterprises in the electronic information manufacturing industry in Shandong province, and four enterprises have been selected as national top 100 electronic enterprises, namely Inspur, Haier, Hisense and Goertek.

The Shandong electronic information industry development agglomeration effect has also begun taking shape. Jinan, Qingdao and Yantai continue to boast the top three information technology enterprises in the province.

Software and high-end computing products from Jinan, smart home appliances from Qingdao, integrated circuit packaging materials from Yantai, laser printers from Weihai, electro-acoustic devices from Weifang and electronic components from Zibo have become important industry calling cards.
