More than 10 foreign journalists from Italy, South Korea, Brazil, Pakistan, and Portugal visited the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation on Sept 29.

The region, which was approved by the State Council in April 2021, is the second start-up area in China, following the start-up area of Xiongan New Area. It is located in north Jinan, East China's Shandong province and spans a total area of 798 square kilometers.

The area shoulders the two national strategic tasks of the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, as well as the transformation of old growth drivers to new ones.

The area will focus on developing the modern manufacturing, modern service, and cultural industries to help the city's high-quality development.

The region will create a world-class business environment and build a demonstration zone for opening up in the Yellow River Basin. More efforts will be made to improve the environment in the area and build "waste-free city" demonstration areas.
