"The conference is much more important for us. It brings the world together on one issue. It is not only a conference on food loss and waste, it is a conference to unite the world," Gafar Karar Ahmed, Sudanese ambassador to China, said in an exclusive interview with China Daily at the International Conference on Food Loss and Waste in Jinan, Shandong province, on Sept 10.
"Jinan has brought the world together today to talk about only one issue and serve only one issue," Ahmed said.
The International Conference on Food Loss and Waste, which started on Sept 9, provided a platform for countries to share their experiences in food loss and waste, and discuss global concerns.
Sudan has established close relations with Shandong province in agriculture and Shandong has built an agriculture research center in Sudan.
"Sudan also has food loss and waste. So I have come back again to meet the government officials here to learn more about how Shandong and Jinan plan to decrease food loss and waste," Ahmed added.
Jinan is the land of Confucius culture and the city uses the wisdom of Confucius to bring the world together to serve the world and to serve the human being, said Ahmed.
He also noted that Jinan Initiative of the International Food Loss Conference, is very important. "The initiative will be published in many countries and it is like a roadmap for tackling food loss and waste."
During his interview, Ahmed, also expressed his love of Jinan and suggested that the city should make more efforts to promote its featured culture and to improve its international environment.
