The Shandong provincial government issued a guideline containing a number of targeted policies to support the development of its new energy, energy saving, and environmental protection sectors on Sept 1, local media outlets reported.

According to the guideline, by the end of 2021, local governments in Qingdao, Yantai, and Weihai are urged to draw up plans and policies in regard to using nuclear energy for their cities' heating system.

By the end of 2025, Shandong aims to generate 10 million kilowatts of offshore wind power, leading the nation in the development of the sector. In addition, it plans to promote the mass construction of photovoltaic projects in its cities and counties.

Gas stations, LNG stations, and charging stations are also encouraged to be upgraded or expanded to add hydrogen filling features.

In order to bolster the development of its energy saving and environmental protection sectors, the province will offer subsidies worth up to 3 million yuan (about $464, 000) to ecofriendly industrial parks. Additionally, the Shandong Department of Ecology and Environment will select 20 organizations that make significant achievements in clean production, as well as provide them with subsidies valued at a maximum of 500,000 yuan.
