A total of 440 million yuan ($67.85 million) will be allocated to building 1,500 cold chain logistics facilities for the storage and preservation of produce in Shandong this year, according to the Shandong Provincial Finance Department.

Governments in Shandong will improve storage facilities and cold chain logistics to help open up the circulation of agriculture products, authorities said.

Modern cold chain logistics facilities will be built in main production areas for fresh agricultural products and areas producing featured agricultural products, vegetables and fruits.

Five key industrial counties will be selected to carry out the pilot projects, with each pilot county receiving a subsidy of 20 million yuan from the Shandong Provincial Finance Department.

Leading agricultural enterprises, agricultural industrialization consortiums as well as market entities are encouraged to take part in the construction of cold chain logistics facilities.
