Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, will hold an international conference on food loss and waste from Sept 9 to 11, the Jinan municipal government announced on Aug 16.

The conference will provide a platform for countries to share their experiences in food loss and waste, and discuss global concerns such as food security and poverty alleviation.

The conference is themed "reducing food loss and waste, promoting global food security". Officials said the conference will highlight the need to maintain a sense of urgency regarding food security and deepen international exchanges and cooperation.
