A machinery manufacturing base supported by Shandong Heavy Industry Group started construction in Laiwu district, Jinan, Shandong province on June 2.

The project, which has a total investment of 5 billion yuan ($782.5 million), will use globally advanced production equipment lines and digital platforms to develop into a world-class digital manufacturing base.

The first phase of the project will be completed by the end of this year and is expected to be put into use on July 1, 2022.

Tan Xuguang, chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, delivered a keynote speech at the launching ceremony and said that Shandong Heavy Industry Group focuses on high-quality construction.

The group shares superior resources, such as talents, technologies, and comprehensive supporting facilities, with Sinotruk and Kion Group, which will promote the development of industrial clusters, added Tan.

The machinery manufacturing base in Laiwu will make full use of the resource advantages of Shandong Heavy Industry Group in engines, new energy, hydraulic parts, automatic control, and transmissions to promote the development of the industrial chain.

After its completion, the project will greatly enhance the group's manufacturing capacity of large and super large products, as well as promote the smart transformation of the group's large-scale projects.
