Yantai to host 300 cultural tourism activities for May Day

The coastal city of Yantai plans to organize more than 300 cultural and tourism activities to celebrate the upcoming May Day holiday, which runs from May 1 to 5, according to a news conference held by local government on April 23.
The activities will focus on red tourism to encourage tourists to visit sites important to China's revolutionary history to help promote the spirit of the Party and make the 100th anniversary of the founding of Communist Party of China.
Five cultural items themed on the history and spirit of the Party will be launched at Yantai Theater and Yantai Peking Opera Theater. The ticket price takes just one yuan ($0.15) for the public. Twenty tourism routes featuring culture of the Party will be launched involving red tourism sites, natural landscapes, cultural heritages, as well as self-driving options.
An activity will be held on May 1 at Golden Beach Scenic Area to offer visitors more than 30 varieties of local delicacies, including Fushan noodles, and sugar paintings. Inheritors of Yantai intangible cultural heritages, such as paper-cutting and woolen embroidery, will also showcase their skills on site.
More than 10 activities focusing on flower admiration will be launched including the pear flower festival and the cherry blossom festival in Laiyang, rose festival in Laizhou and peony festival in Zhaoyuan. Changdao Island will also host a sea gull festival during the holiday.
