Seventy-two varieties of lubricant additive products developed by the PetroChina Lubricant Corporation were launched at the second World Congress on Internal Combustion Engines in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province on April 23.

The newly-developed Kunlun lubricant additive products have broken the technological blockade by foreign countries.

Lubricating oil is an important driving force for industrial development and the additive determines the performance of lubricating oil. Additive technology is the core technology in the development of lubricants.

However, nearly 85 percent of China's additive market is monopolized by foreign additive companies, and the additive products needed for China's high-end lubricants have to be imported, which severely restricts industrial development in China.

The PetroChina Lubricant Corporation has broken through the foreign technical blockade in the field of lubrication additives and made many research and development achievements, according to Xiao Hongwei, executive director of PetroChina Lubricant Corporation.

Xiao said the technology of lubricant additive in the company is currently at an advanced level.

The technology, he added, will help promote the development of China's production chain in the field of lubricating oil.
