A mobile laboratory, the first of its kind in Shandong, recently debuted at the Jinan Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Jinan, Shandong province.

The lab will serve as an automated molecular detection platform for infectious diseases and will help detect nucleic acid samples and prevent the spread of infection.

The lab consists of three experimentation areas – a reagent preparation room, a sample processing room, and a testing room, all of which are separated with buffer rooms in order to prevent aerosol pollution. The lab is also easy to move and can be conveniently placed at stations, harbors, and communities.

It can automatically scan sample barcodes, input samples, and extract nucleic acid from samples, significantly reducing detection time. In addition, it can detect up to 30,000 samples daily.
