Print PrintShandong aims to become a "great modern province" by 2035, according to the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for Shandong Economic and Social Development and the Outline of the 2035 Long-Term Goals formulated by the provincial government.

In the coming five years, Shandong will make efforts to improve its overall strength, promote development quality and efficiency, boost scientific and technological innovation, further reform and opening-up, advance ecological improvement, elevate the efficiency of governance, and promote people's livelihood. The province is aiming to be the best in these areas in China.
Shandong is also aiming to make major breakthroughs in building a province strong in science and technology, culture, healthcare, modern agriculture, advanced manufacturing, marine economy, digital economy, new energy and new materials, and transportation.
