Weifang has been named the second International City of Peace in China, after Nanjing in Jiangsu province.

The honorary title is a recognition of Weifang's openness and inclusiveness and indicates the aspirations of the peace-loving Weifang people.

"Peace is a concept. Peace is respect, understanding, stability, and prosperity, and allows people to enjoy life," said Ji Shuchun, the initiator of Weifang's bid for International City of Peace and curator of the Weifang Museum.

"As an International City of Peace, Weifang will work to share China's peaceful culture, stories, and vision with the world, and convey the aspirations of the peace-loving Chinese people."
