The Jinan government issued 12 supporting measures on Jan 30 to encourage students and workers to stay in the city for the upcoming Spring Festival in response to China's epidemic prevention and control requirements.
A total of 10 million yuan ($1.55 million) in consumption vouchers will be released from Feb 11 to 28. They can be used for shopping, catering, and accommodation.
In addition, the city's 77 A-level scenic spots, 45 cultural centers, 26 Quancheng reading rooms, and sports venues are encouraged to maintain regular hours during the festival.
Immigrant workers who stay in Jinan throughout the holiday will receive 500 yuan per person in subsidies, and those who stay on duty during the holiday will be given an extra work allowance of 100 yuan per person per day.
Furthermore, medical institutions at all levels in Jinan will provide outpatient and emergency examination fees to migrant workers for free from Feb 14 to 21.
The city's commercial complexes will also hold a number of Spring Festival-themed activities for locals during the holiday.
