The province of Shandong is on track to embrace the new dual circulation development paradigm as it enters the 14th Five-Year Plan period in 2021, which also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

Han Jinxiang, a senior official from the Shandong First Medical University, was inspired when he learned that Shandong has listed the enhancement of scientific and technological innovation ability and achieving practical results as the top priorities in the provincial government work report for 2021.

"Scientific and technological innovation is crucial to forming the new development pattern. Colleges and universities can play an important role in this part and contribute to the province's efforts in building an innovation powerhouse," said Han.

"The signing of the RCEP has brought new opportunities to Shandong's development," said Li, who added that, Shandong, as a coastal province in China, has the capability of promoting mutual economic development between the eastern and western parts of China, land-sea integrated development, international trade and maritime cooperation.
