More than 600 million yuan ($91.74 million) in deals were inked at the recent 2020 Japan-ROK (Qingdao) Imports Expo, which was held from Dec 10 to 12 in Chengyang district, Qingdao.

Jointly hosted by the Qingdao municipal government, the Qingdao sub-council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Qingdao Chengyang district government, the expo displayed more than 10,000 products from nearly 1,000 enterprises based in China, Japan and South Korea.

According to the expo organizers, the event attracted more than 30,000 visitors and generated transactions amounting to 638 million yuan. Online trading volume had hit about 56 million yuan.

Three special activities were held during the expo to help buyers from China, Japan and South Korea perform negotiations. These activities attracted more than 120 professional purchasers and witnessed the signing of over 600 purchase intent agreements worth 480 million yuan.

"Our products are mainly exported to European and American markets. In recent years, we have been exporting through cross-border e-commerce channels. This expo offers a high-level platform for us to enhance the visibility of our company, seek more cooperation and expand export channels," said Sun Ao, general manager of Qingdao Haide Packaging Co.

This is the third time that Chengyang district has hosted the expo, which coincided with the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement and the beginning of a 10-year cooperative effort between China, Japan, and the ROK. The expo is expected to facilitate regional economic cooperation and explore new paths for China-Japan-ROK cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
