Shandong: a top destination for postdoctoral researchers

East China's Shandong province has become a top destination for postdoctoral researchers, according to official data.

The province is home to 471 postdoctoral workstations, ranking third among all provinces in China and employing more than 5,000 postdoctoral researchers.

Among the postdoctoral researchers working in Shandong, one has been elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, three have become members of the Yangtze River Scholar Program issued by the Ministry of Education, and six have won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. They have won a total 1,603 provincial and ministerial-level awards.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the implementation of the postdoctoral system in China.

The Shandong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security hosted a series of celebrations in Qingdao on Nov 18. An expo highlighting postdoctoral innovation and entrepreneurship achievements was held, along with other promotional activities.
