East China's Shandong province will host a high-level event on Nov 10 to boost economic ties and facilitate cooperation with Japan.

The Japan Session of the "Connecting Shandong with Fortune Global 500" serial event, jointly hosted by the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and Shandong Provincial People's Government, will discuss new trends of the international economy and investment in the new global context. It will also explore opportunities for further opening up in Shandong province and further cooperation between Shandong and Japanese multinationals.

The event has received strong support from several Japanese commercial organizations and industrial magnates, including the Association for the Promotion of International Trade, Japan, Japan-China Economic Association, the Japan External Trade Organization, the Japan-China Investment Promotion Organization, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Mizuho Bank.

The event will be held online and offline, with the main venues located in Jinan, the capital of Shandong province, and in Japan's Tokyo, as well as at sub venues in Shandong's 16 cities.

Representatives of Fortune Global 500 companies, government officials from both countries, chambers of commerce, industry associations and research organizations from Japan will attend the event.

A project-matchmaking activity will also be held via online channels. About 100 Japanese enterprises and business associations will participate in negotiating partnerships with their counterparts in Shandong province. Industries that will be highlighted include healthcare, intelligent manufacturing, information technology and modern, efficient agriculture.

According to the Shandong Department of Commerce, 51 Fortune Global 500 companies from Japan have invested in 157 projects in Shandong, with a total investment valued at $5.72 billion.
