The 37th Weifang International Kite Festival will be held from Sept 26 to 29 in Weifang, East China's Shandong province.

According to the organizing committee, due to the global COVID-19 outbreak, this year's event will not be inviting kite-flying enthusiasts and teams from foreign countries and regions, but they are still welcome to participate in the online activities.

A dazzling array of activities will take place during the event, including kite-flying competitions, traditional kite culture promotional activities, and a kite-themed cosplay and creative design competition.

Kite-flying hobbyists and professionals as well as traditional kite craftsmen from across the country will participate in the event.

Weifang is known as the world capital of kites due to its 2,400-year history of manufacturing and flying them. It is also home to the International Kite Federation.

After decades of development, the kite festival has become a unique cultural and sporting event and a core platform for promoting Weifang to the world.
