Sun Guodong, a young man from Jinan, East China's Shandong province, is a victim of cerebral palsy due to the lack of oxygen at his birth. His life changed in 2013 when he started painting by chance.

To improve his painting skills, Sun took a specially made electric wheelchair at a studio to practice at 5 am every morning. Since then, painting has become an indispensable part of his life.

"Because of the cerebral palsy, my fingers are not flexible. So when I first began to draw, it was difficult for me to draw a straight line, those lines I drew were always curved, and my fingers got tired after a while," said Sun during a video interview with Chinanews. 

To overcome physical difficulties, Sun decided to practice much longer to catch up with others.

In 2016, his oil paintings were selected for the first National Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition for the disabled, winning high praise from professional painters. His oil paintings have been sold in Venice and other parts of Europe through e-commerce platforms.

"Those paintings bring income for my family, and I think I have found the direction and enthusiasm of my life," said Sun.

"Now he has a career he loves, I am really happy for him," said Sun's mother, a local farmer.
